Wodonga Basketball Association (WBA) offers two domestic seasons annually, as well as training for domestic players and sub-programs, including coaching and referee development, Basketball Victoria Representative programs, and

In-school programs.

We value the importance of all our participants (players, coaches, referees, and members) from Aussie Hoops through to our Seniors.

WBA is in a massive growth phase, and we can't keep up! Therefore, we are on the lookout for some new team members. The positions below are paid, but we are always on the lookout for volunteers as well.









The 2023 Domestic Basketball season is just round the corner, if you haven’t registered yet, jump on and register straight away:

Junior Domestic. U8s – U19s - HERE

The season will commence as follows;

  • Thursday 16th U8s and U14s

  • Friday 17th U10s and 12s

  • Monday 20th U16s, U19s and Seniors

Teams will be released a few days before your game, so check our website Team Lists again soon.


Junior Singlets will be available for collection either Wednesday 15th February 5:30pm – 7pm. Or come along 20 mins prior to your game commencing.

A reminder that the first three weeks for Juniors are grading and there is the possibility players will be moved to even up teams.

Uniform Policy

All players - both Junior and Senior, must be in full uniform by week 3 or a 3pt penalty per player will be held.

Shorts must NOT have pockets. Black Wolves shorts are available from the office for $27.

2023 is going to be a fun, social and exciting competitive season. We can't wait to see you on court.


Singlet Returns

Do you still have a 2022 singlet - or maybe one from other years ;) ???

You can return your singlet on Monday 30th, Tuesday 31st or Thursday 2nd, 2-5pm this week at the Basketball office near court 2 at Wodonga Sports and Leisure Centre.


Come and Try Day

Never Played Basketball, but kind of want to? Or not overly confident? Come along to our Come and Try Day. Monday 6th Feb 4..30-6pm (Girls only) and Thursday 9th Feb 4.30-6pm (Mixed). There will be experienced coaches and assistants to explain the game and give you the confidence to join up for a fun and social competition.

  • Adult Referee School – EOI Either 24th Feb or 25th Feb

  • Junior Referee School – Level O 4th March

Wodonga Basketball Association (WBA)

Basketball Program Manager


Responsible to: Wodonga Basketball Board


Contracted Hours: Negotiable. This position is available Full-time or Part-time in a job share arrangement.


Responsible for: Management of competitions and the daily running of the Association with assistance from the Board, Staff and Volunteers.


Objective: Wodonga Basketball Association (WBA) offers two domestic seasons annually, as well as training for domestic players and sub-programs, including coaching and referee development, Basketball Victoria Representative programs, In-school programs and Wheelchair basketball. We value the importance of all our participants (players, coaches, referees and member families) from Aussie Hoops through to our senior Country Basketball League.


The Role: The position will be the face of WBA and is required to build the profile to encourage new participants across the region. WBA values exceptional customer service and a collaborative approach by working alongside the board, sub-committee members, other staff, volunteers and our members in a consultative and constructive manner.


Attributes:

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

· Have a current Working with Children’s Check.

· Be a positive and proactive voice with strong communication skills, with a friendly and approachable manner.

· Have computer administration skills and the ability to learn new systems with guidance.

· Be organised and efficient, with the ability to work autonomously, as well as in a team environment.

· Have experience and knowledge in basketball, whether via employment, volunteering or playing.

Key Duties:


· Responsible for domestic level basketball competitions and oversee all programs and other development programs conducted by the Association

· Ensure all members and teams adhere to the rules that govern our competitions – bylaws and codes of conduct. Complete a monthly competition and program report to the Board.

· Utilise online software to update fixtures, ladders and results. Edit website and social media when required.

· Action competition and program enquiries, complaints, or incident reports.

· Manage and Promote competitions and programs.

· Liaise with the Stadium Manager regarding court requirements for programs and competitions.

· Ensure all financial accounts are accurate and up to date in consultation with the Treasurer.

· Actively pursue sponsorships, grants and other funding.

· Ensure all health and safety requirements are adhered to and report any risks to venue management and the relevant WBA Board immediately.

· Other appropriate duties as requested by the Board.
