To Wodonga Basketball Players, Members and Families.
It is my pleasure and I feel a privilege that I introduce myself to you as President of Wodonga Basketball. My name is Bec Gransden and I have been a member of the Wodonga Basketball community for over 10 years.
My three children have all grown up playing basketball in Wodonga as well as representing Wodonga Junior Wolves and Senior Wolves and all three have also been referees. While two have moved away, my youngest son Dan and I still play in the domestic competition (although I’m a bit slower than I used to be).
First, I’d like to acknowledge the outgoing committee Reeny Matthews, Ben foley, Michael Thompson, Dee Everett and particularly outgoing president Pat Sallinger and Treasurer Mark Bywater. Your dedication and contribution to the basketball community has not gone unnoticed. You have all helped to steer the association through difficult years, which makes the achievements you have made all the more significant.
Welcome to our new board members:
Jane Evans – Vice President
To be confirmed – Secretary
Allyssa Constable – Treasurer
Jade Moscrop, Natalie Pierce and Nic Conway – General Members.
The association has bounced back well from a challenging two years.
Our junior domestic program (the grass roots of the association) have increased in player numbers dramatically this current season and we have introduced a cross border Youth League Girls in collaboration with Albury Basketball. We anticipate further programs including training for domestic players, Girls Got Game, 3 on 3 basketball and the delivery of the Strategic Plan.
To achieve our goals, the Board have introduced subcommittees and we seek volunteer members for help and support in areas of governance, marketing and communications, junior and senior representative, technical officials, competitions, and special projects. We value any contribution big or small that you can provide the association.
“The Strength of the Wolf is the Pack”
I look forward to the next 12 months.
All the best in Basketball
Bec Gransden
